Nose Surgery Des Moines

Nose surgery, commonly known as rhinoplasty or a “nose job,” is a transformative surgical procedure aimed at reshaping the nose to enhance its aesthetics and/or function. Rhinoplasty is a delicate balance of science and artistry. Dr. David Robbins and his expert team at Des Moines Plastic Surgery are considered top providers of rhinoplasty in Des Moines.

What Can Nose Surgery Be Used to Correct?

Nose surgery is one of the most sought-after plastic surgery procedures globally, attracting individuals seeking to correct a wide range of nasal imperfections. These may include asymmetry, a misshapen bridge, an overly prominent hump, a bulbous tip, and breathing difficulties due to structural issues.

Why Choose Des Moines Plastic Surgery?

Privacy and education are important to people, especially when it comes to your face. That is why Dr. David Robbins has created a unique cosmetic surgery practice in Iowa where you can experience the education of a quadruple board certified plastic surgeon (Dr. David Robbins) and a private operating suite at the office of Des Moines Plastic Surgery™. There is no longer a need to visit a hospital or surgery center to have nose surgery or rhinoplasty. We have it all in one convenient location!

Des Moines Plastic Surgery™ is the only office in the Des Moines area that offers the Vectra 3D Imaging System. Patients love this system because it allows you to see a 3D image of yourself before and after rhinoplasty. It is also used for breast lifts and breast augmentations. Individual results may vary

Rhinoplasty is one of several facial plastic surgery procedures offered at our Des Moines practice. Dr. Robbins can combine nose surgery with other enhancements such as chin augmentation. Dr. Robbins has a special focus on facial cosmetic surgery, and is the only quadruple board certified plastic surgeon in Iowa by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Laser Surgery.

When to Consider Rhinoplasty

You may be a good candidate for nose reshaping surgery if you:

  • Have structural problems like a hook or a bump
  • Have functional problems like a deviated septum
  • Are healthy and do not smoke
  • Possess realistic goals and expectations

The decision to undergo cosmetic surgery should not be influenced by external pressures or temporary emotional fluctuations.

Nose surgery can improve the balance and proportion of your face by altering the size, shape or projection of your nose. It may also be used to correct breathing problems and birth defects.

The best way to determine if surgery is right for you is to schedule a cosmetic consultation at Des Moines Plastic Surgery™. Dr. Robbins specializes in rhinoplasty and other facial cosmetic surgeries.

Rhinoplasty Consultation

A rhinoplasty consultation is a crucial first step in the journey toward achieving your desired nasal aesthetic. During the consultation, you will meet Dr. Robbins, a highly skilled and experienced plastic surgeon, to discuss your specific concerns and aesthetic goals.

The doctor will ask you about your goals for the procedure. He will then conduct a thorough assessment of your nasal anatomy and review your medical history.

Dr. Robbins will create a custom surgical plan based on the complexity of the procedure, the extent of changes desired, and any functional issues that need addressing. He will explain the surgical process, potential risks, and expected outcomes to ensure that rhinoplasty is the right procedure for you. Questions are welcome at any time.

How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?

The cost of rhinoplasty varies, since each patient’s unique anatomical features and aesthetic goals require a tailored approach. Price may be affected by the specific techniques utilized, along with the total surgical time.

FAQs

  • What happens during nose surgery?

At Des Moines Plastic Surgery™, nose surgery is an outpatient procedure that typically requires general anesthesia. Once you’ve been placed under anesthesia in our fully accredited operating room, Dr. Robbins will either make a small incision across the base of your nose (known as open rhinoplasty) or within your nostrils (known as closed rhinoplasty).

Through these incisions, Dr. Robbins can reduce or augment your nose, depending on your cosmetic or medical needs. Once surgery is complete, Dr. Robbins will apply a nasal splint and nasal supports to hold your new shape during recovery.

  • How much time will I need to take off from work?

When you wake up from surgery, your face will feel swollen and bruised. You should plan to spend the first couple of days resting in bed with your head elevated. Most patients are able to resume work and light physical activity within a week of surgery. It’s important to remember that noticeable facial swelling and bruising may be present for a couple of weeks.

  • When will I see the final results of surgery?

Most swelling and bruising will subside within one month of surgery. From there, some residual swelling, noticeable only to you and Dr. Robbins, may last for 6 months. You may need to wait up to a full year before your final results are visible.

  • Are there any alternatives to nose surgery?

Some dermal and soft tissue fillers may be used to provide subtle corrections to the shape of your nose. However, it’s important to note that these products only provide temporary results. Repeated treatments will be needed to maintain results. Several kinds of dermal and soft tissue fillers are available at Des Moines Plastic Surgery™.

  • What are some of the risks associated with nose surgery?

Before considering nose surgery, it’s important to understand that there are risks associated with all surgical procedures. Dr. Robbins will discuss risks associated with nose surgery during your cosmetic consultation. Some risks may include, but not limited to, infection, adverse reaction to anesthesia, bleeding, numbness, swelling and scarring.
