Nose Surgery at Des Moines

Privacy and education are important to people, especially when it comes to your face. That is why Dr. David Robbins has created a unique cosmetic surgery practice in Iowa where you can experience the education of a quadruple board-certified plastic surgeon (Dr. David Robbins) and a private operating suite at the office of Des Moines Plastic Surgery™. There is no longer a need to visit a hospital or surgery center to have nose surgery or rhinoplasty. We have it all in one convenient location!

Des Moines Plastic Surgery™ is the only office in the Des Moines area that offers the Vectra 3D Imaging System. When To Consider Rhinoplasty

You may be a good candidate for nose reshaping surgery if you:

  • Have structural problems like a hook or a bump
  • Have functional problems like a deviated septum
  • Are healthy and do not smoke
  • Possess realistic goals and expectations

Nose surgery can improve the balance and proportion of your face by altering the size, shape, or projection of your nose. It may also be used to correct breathing problems and birth defects.

The best way to determine if surgery is right for you is to schedule a cosmetic consultation at Des Moines Plastic Surgery™. Dr. Robbins specializes in rhinoplasty and other facial cosmetic surgeries.

Nose Surgery Frequently Asked Questions

At Des Moines Plastic Surgery™, nose surgery is an outpatient procedure that typically requires general anesthesia. Once you’ve been placed under anesthesia in our fully accredited operating room, Dr. Robbins will either make a small incision across the base of your nose (known as open rhinoplasty) or within your nostrils (known as closed rhinoplasty).

Through these incisions, Dr. Robbins can reduce or augment your nose, depending on your cosmetic or medical needs. Once the surgery is complete, Dr. Robbins will apply a nasal splint and nasal supports to hold your new shape during the recovery.

When you wake up from surgery, your face will feel swollen and bruised. You should plan to spend the first couple of days resting in bed with your head elevated. Most patients are able to resume work and light physical activity within a week of surgery. It’s important to remember that noticeable facial swelling and bruising may be present for a couple of weeks.

Most swelling and bruising will subside within one month of surgery. From there, some residual swelling, noticeable only to you and Dr. Robbins, may last for 6 months. You may need to wait up to a full year before your final results are visible.

Some dermal and soft tissue fillers may be used to provide subtle corrections to the shape of your nose. However, it’s important to note that these products only provide temporary results. Repeated treatments will be needed to maintain results. Several kinds of dermal and soft tissue fillers are available at Des Moines Plastic Surgery™.

Before considering nose surgery, it’s important to understand that there are risks associated with all surgical procedures. Dr. Robbins will discuss the risks associated with nose surgery during your cosmetic consultation. Some risks may include but are not limited to, infection, adverse reaction to anesthesia, bleeding, numbness, swelling, and scarring.
