Once you are released from care at Des Moines Plastic Surgery™, you will need the assistance of a friend or relative for the first few days. It’s normal to experience some numbness, stiffness, and discomfort, which will make it difficult to perform normal activities like talking, eating, or smiling. A combination of prescription pain medication and cold compresses should make this temporary discomfort manageable.

Most patients feel up to returning to work and other normal routines within a week of surgery. Strenuous physical activity and heavy lifting should be avoided for a few weeks to a month until you have progressed in your healing.
